Crystal Palace Ladies narrowly lost to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies on Sunday, succumbing to a frustrating 1-0 loss away from home thanks to a solitary successful strike from the Lillywhites.

Spurs opened the game quickly, and Rianna Dean was only denied a goal within two minutes by a crunching tackle from Anneka Nuttall after Angela Addison rounded Palace 'keeper Shanelle Salgado to square it to her teammate in white.

Addison was involved again at the Palace end just minutes later as Jessica Naz broke into the area only to see her pass closely missed by the to-the-day 19-year-old.

The home side's early assault almost bore fruit when Dean struck into the net but had her would-be goal ruled out for offside. However, she had her chance to celebrate barely 10 minutes later as she fired the ball home following an Ashleigh Neville flick-through over the top.

Spurs' next attempt came again through Addison, who was forced to watch Salgado pull off an impressive save seconds before half-time to keep the score at 1-0.

The game had been fought in midfield throughout, and its second-half failed to yield many chances of note. It was Palace who would come closest, though, and shot-stopper Chloe Morgan was forced into making a strong block from Chloe Burr's attempt in order to protect her clean-sheet.

In the end, Palace finished the match as close losers and will feel frustrated not to have taken more from their efforts.
