Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Alexander Sørloth from Danish side, FC Midtjylland on a four and a half year contract.
The 22-year-old striker has scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in 26 games for FC Midtjylland this season, and has already clocked up 12 international caps and one goal for Norway.
Sørloth was delighted to sign for the Eagles, telling Palace TV: “It's a big club with ambition, a good club who takes good care of its players. It feels amazing, it's a dream come true to play in the Premier League. I've dreamt about this since I was six years old.”
Palace's new number 9 cannot wait to get started. "My short term aim is to try get my debut as quickly as possible, show my skills on the training ground - and hopefully the manager likes what he sees."
Despite his tender age, the striker has already played in three countries but admitted, his career hasn't been plain sailing. “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. It started a bit shaky in Rosenborg before going on loan to FK Bodø/Glimt and I did really well there. I then changed to Holland [Groningen] - had some ups and downs, but then I went to Denmark where it [my career] went straight up - and I think I've have had the best six months of my career. It was amazing - right from the get go, I did really well - and that's what it's all about.”
Sørloth is the son of former Rosenborg player and Norwegian international Gøran Sørloth and Alexander cites his father as a real inspiration in his career. He said: "He has been guiding me since I started playing football at six years old. I always get advice and calls after games, so it is really important."
