This December, the club welcomes back to Selhurst Park some of the heroes from Palace’s final day draw with Sheffield Wednesday in the 2009/10 season - dubbed as one of the biggest matches in the team's history - in the latest of its Sporting Dinner events.
With the club in administration and the team docked 10 points, the fight against relegation looked near-on impossible - but the 2009/10 squad of players achieved the unthinkable after a do-or-die showdown against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
For this special event, we welcome back a number of the players and leaders who secured our Championship status on a pivotal day in saving the club itself.
The event offers you and guests the opportunity to meet the leaders from the team – Shaun Derry and Clint Hill – as well as a selection of the other heroes including goalscorer and talisman from that season, Darren Ambrose, and current goalkeeping legend Julian Speroni as well as recently confirmed guests, manager Paul Hart and midfielder Johnny Ertl.
Hart was handed the task of saving Palace's season with only two-and-a-half months to go. The then-caretaker boss is now assistant manager at Luton Town while Ertl, who enjoyed two seasons at Selhurst, is helping to coach Portsmouth's Under-16s.
Derry and Hill were a solid spine to the squad, both now remembered fondly by Palace fans for their do-or-die attitude throughout the season; something often credited as the key to staying up.
Danny Butterfield will also attend the dinner, the defender infamous for scoring a perfect hat-trick that season in just six minutes. More accustomed to scoring, however, Butterfield's teammate Ambrose will recount his club-saving goal, rifled low into Wednesday's net after an hour to keep the Eagles afloat.
Finally, first-team 'keeper Julian Speroni will speak on a heroic game and how it feels now playing in the Premier League having come so close to relegation to League One. The shot-stopper has been with Palace for 14 years.
Guests will receive a full insight into the story of that season, what it was like to play in such a crucial match, as well as the celebrations and relief that followed.
Included with all ticketing options are comedy and fine dining, as well as the opportunity to support the Palace For Life foundation with select fundraising items throughout the course of the evening.
The tickets for this event will no longer be available after Thursday 29 November, so be fast, this is your last chance to book a place.
