Jairo Riedewald’s injury picked up in the midweek cup victory at West Bromwich Albion is not as bad as first feared but he has been ruled out of Monday’s trip to Bournemouth.
"We picked up an injury against West Bromwich Albion with Jairo Riedewald but luckily we don't think it is as bad as we first feared when he had to come off so early in the game. He has had a scan and we are hoping he will be back in training towards the end of next week. He is out of the game at the weekend," said Roy Hodgson and he also gave an update at his pre-match conference on his striker who has been missing in recent games.
"Christian Benteke, we are monitoring on a day to day basis, he is improving but as yet he is still having treatment so he is out of the question as yet but other than that we have a clean bill of health."
There were some concerns before last Saturday’s match against Newcastle regarding the fitness of Wilfried Zaha but Hodgson was pleased to confirm that there are no issues with the Eagles winger
"It was only a slight spasm but it didnt affect him in any way and he has trained all week," added Hodgson.
