Aaron Wan-Bissaka made his England under 21 debut in Thursday’s 0-0 draw against the Netherlands at Carrow Road.
The draw keeps Aidy Boothroyd’s side five points clear at the top of the Euro 2019 qualifying group with three games to play.
Wan-Bissaka was one of three debutants named by Boothroyd as the 20 year-old took up a right wing back role as the England boss decided to introduce a new formation in their first game of the season.
It was a game of few clear cut chances to either side with the hosts best chance not coming until seven minutes from the end of the contest when Demarai Gray was denied by the crossbar.
Netherlands had a claim for a penalty turned down in the opening period but didn’t cause the England goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, too many alarms during his evening's work.
The visitors needed maximum points from the trip to Carrow Road to give them a chance of topping the group at the end of qualification.
Ryan Sessegnon, Tom Davies and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had chances to break the deadlock but it was that late chance for Gray, which came back off the underside of the bar, that nearly saw the points going the way of the Three Lions.
The group leaders had to settle for a point as Wan-Bissaka picked up an invaluable 90 minutes of international experience to his name and the squad now travel to Latvia for their next game on Tuesday evening.
