Dean Davenport will be eyeing a solid cup run for his Championship side, with the manager revealing an early start to pre-season will hopefully give his squad extra time to prepare for the season ahead: "The team returned on July 26th, which is relatively early compared to other sides in the league, but it has given us extra time to settle the new additions in and for them to start to gel with their teammates."

How does the tournament work?

Crystal Palace will play sides drawn in Group D, one of four groups this season. The groups are split into north and south, with each half of the country filling two groups of five-six teams each. The clubs which finish first and second in each group after every fixture has been played will progress to a knock-out quarter-final round. This will progress until just two teams are left and the winner will be decided in a final scheduled for Saturday, 29th February.
