Palace Ladies are pleased to confirm their third signing of the transfer window, Meghan McKeag.
McKeag joins Gemma Bryan and the on loan Lucy Gillett as new additions to the Palace squad, as the Eagles look to strengthen their position in the FA Women’s Championship, having been promoted before this season.
McKeag, 29, is a left-back and has previous experience at Arsenal, Millwall and Chelsea. She joins the Eagles as they seek to solidify their league position in their first ever season competing with the elite of the English game.
“Joining Palace was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse," she said. "I had taken some time out at the start of the season and quickly realised how much I was missing football. I had the chance to speak to the gaffer and it was very clear that Palace was the place for me.”
Asked as to what she hopes to bring to the squad, Meghan added, “I’d like to think my experience will help. I am a committed and determined player and know, already, that these are qualities across the squad. The players and staff have been fantastic from the second I arrived and I have already seen what a special thing it is to be Crystal Palace."
Speaking on what it means to have signed McKeag, manager Dean Davenport commented, “We have really lacked a naturally left-footed footballer at the back this season, and despite some excellent cover from our players, to have someone who brings that natural left-sided quality, as well as plenty of experience, is perfect for us.
"Thanks to the excellent support from Mr. Parish downwards, we have been able to complete some excellent business this month, building further on the tremendous efforts of everyone to date.”
Palace Ladies' next game will be away to London Bees on Sunday at 14.00.
