While Lee kept Villa at bay, Casey and Nascimento provided the cutting edge at the other end.
Casey opened the scoring after being picked out by Euan Danaher’s cut-back, firing into the roof of the net, before Nascimento produced a moment of individual brilliance to double the advantage late on.
It was a first goal of the campaign for both forwards, with Nascimento building on a prolific pre-season in which he scored five times.
Powell believes the pair can take confidence from getting off the mark.
“Attacking players want to score and they want to score as soon as possible,” he said. “They live off confidence.
“That’s only going to do well for the individuals, especially Adler, who’s been playing through pre-season, scoring and assisting a lot of goals.
“So, he’s in good form and he’s confident. Now it just helps Benji as well.
“The pleasing thing is that we scored two goals against a good side and kept a clean sheet.
“I was saying before the game, to win games you need to be resilient in your defending and keep clean sheets. That’s a focus that we need to push on with.
“But again, Harry Lee was our best player today, and that says it all within the game.”
