The 18-year-old becomes the first player to move directly from Morocco’s Botola Pro to a Premier League club.
Crystal Palace Academy sign Taha Majni
Crystal Palace Academy are delighted to confirm the signing of Taha Majni from Moroccan side Union Touarga.
Majni progressed through the youth ranks at Touarga before making his senior debut in June 2025, featuring in their Excellence Cup Semi-Final victory over Wydad Fès.
A versatile operator capable of playing at centre-back or right-back, he went on to make 17 senior appearances, 15 of them last season, including 13 starts.
He was also part of Morocco’s historic FIFA Under-20 World Cup triumph in Chile last year, helping his country claim the trophy for the first time. Aged 17, he featured in a squad which defeated Brazil, Spain, France and Argentina en route to the title.
Majni has since progressed into Morocco’s Under-23s, earning two caps in March, including a start in their 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast.
Describing himself as a technical defender who enjoys the physical side of the game, Majni will now join Darren Powell’s Under-21s squad, competing across Premier League 2, the Premier League International Cup and the EFL Trophy.
Upon signing, Majni said: “Palace are one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and around the world. They have achieved a lot in recent years, so I’m very excited to begin this new adventure with the club.”
Academy Director Gary Issott said: “Taha enjoyed an excellent 25/26 season, gaining valuable senior experience in the Moroccan top-flight and helping Morocco lift the Under-20 World Cup at just 17.
“He is a talented and versatile defender who has impressed us with his performances, and we believe Palace is the right environment for him to continue his development.”
