Timber – who brings with him a wealth of international, European and trophy-winning experience, despite being just 25 – has signed a contract with Palace until 2031.
The industrious midfielder’s career began in the youth systems of DVSU and Feyenoord, before he joined Ajax’s youth system alongside his twin brother, current Arsenal defender Jurriën.
Integral to the Netherlands side that won the 2018 European U17 Championships, Timber also claimed numerous domestic trophies at youth level with Ajax, before making his senior debut for Jong Ajax in the Dutch second tier.
Timber subsequently returned to his hometown of Utretch in 2021 and – after winning the club’s Player of the Year trophy in his one and only season there – signed for Feyenoord the next summer, winning the Eredivisie title at the first time of asking.
In 2024, Timber added the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield to his burgeoning trophy collection at De Kuip, as well as making his senior Netherlands debut against Germany. Later that year, he was appointed Feyenoord club captain.
Timber has gone on to amass 13 caps for the Netherlands, scoring once and – after moving to Marseille in January of this year – featured twice for his country at this summer’s FIFA World Cup Finals in North America.
