Whitworth joined Palace in November 2016 at the age of 13 and progressed through the Academy.
He became the club’s youngest-ever Premier League ‘keeper, making his debut away at Brighton & Hove Albion in March 2023 before starting against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Having captained Darren Powell’s side to Premier League International Cup glory against PSV Eindhoven, he was named Under-21s Player of the Season in 2023/24.
The ‘keeper spent the past two seasons on loan with Exeter City and won their Player of the Season award in his first campaign. He now joins Gary Caldwell’s Wigan following their strong finish to last season in League One.
Everyone at Crystal Palace would like to thank Joe for his efforts and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.
