Crystal Palace Under-14s were crowned Orange Veins OH Leuven Cup champions on Sunday (23rd August), lifting the trophy after a superb two-day tournament in Belgium.
Organised by Orange Veins and Belgian club OH Leuven, the tournament brought together eight elite academies from across Europe, giving players the chance to test themselves against international opposition as part of their development.
The Young Eagles defeated hosts OH Leuven 3-1 in the final, with Mason, Yusuf and Khem all on target as Palace raced into a three-goal lead before Dre pulled one back for the Belgium side.
Michael Kamara’s outfit had topped Group A on Saturday, collecting seven points from three matches.
Palace opened with a 2-1 victory over Leuven, with Khem and Mason on target, before Mason struck again in a 2-0 win over Dutch side Roda JC, with Nathan also finding the net.
A draw against Norwegian outfit FC Oslo completed the group stage and sent the Young Eagles through as group winners.
Palace then edged past Dutch side FC Dordrecht 2-1 in Sunday’s semi-final, with Mason opening the scoring before Chidi struck the winner.
Another impressive performance followed in the final as the Young Eagles lifted the trophy on Leuven’s home turf.
