Cardines was involved in both of Bristol City’s Championship fixtures over the past week, starting Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City before playing a starring role in Friday’s trip to Watford.
The 20-year-old produced the breakthrough at Vicarage Road with a sublime delivery from the left, which Dom Ballard flicked into the far corner in the 31st minute.
It helped the Robins to their first clean sheet of the season and, more importantly, a return to winning ways – with Cardines coming close to adding another assist before the interval when Joe Williams headed his inviting free-kick wide.
He also went close to a first City goal of his own from a set-piece, but the victory was enough to cap another excellent week for the full-back.
The assist took his remarkable tally to six in his last seven appearances, making him one of the leading assist-makers in Europe heading into the international break.
Cardines will now join up with Trinidad & Tobago for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League fixtures.
