The Eagles have experienced inconsistent results at the opening of the campaign, in particular in the Premier League, but have also accumulated four points from their opening three UEFA Europa League matches and reached a club-record third consecutive Carabao Cup quarter-final.
With Bundesliga side Hoffenheim coming to Selhurst Park this afternoon – with last-minute tickets still available for the huge European match – the captain, who returned from injury with two excellent displays for Palace last week, has reiterated that optimism remains high.
“It's what the lads have created over the last couple of years – and it's a reward to play in Europe,” Henderson told the pre-match press conference. “We've got to make the most of it and when you spin it on its head, it's a great thing for Crystal Palace as well.
“I think everyone around the club should enjoy it and really get behind it. Let's have another great run – why not?
“As I say, we've been through difficult times over the past seasons. I know we went through times where we didn't win a game for ages. I think there’s a negative spin on that, but I think the reality is that we've got to be ambitious this season.
“It's still a great season, there's still so much to play for. As I say, there's so much to look forward to as well.”
