Further important information for supporters in Istanbul

Crystal Palace are in Turkey for our third Europa League fixture of the season, away to Besiktas in Istanbul.

Palace face the Super Lig team at the Beşiktaş Park stadium, with kick-off on Thursday (22nd October) at 22:00 TRT local time / 20:00 BST.

Ahead of the game in Turkey, supporters travelling to Istanbul can find important information surrounding the trip below.

Important update

Istanbul police strongly recommend that visiting supporters gather in Taksim Gezi Park at 20:00 (TRT local time). Police will also be carrying out a random ticket check on site.

Supporters can have one can or small bottle of alcohol with them in the park; any more than this will be confiscated by the police.

Shortly after 20:00, police will then begin escorting groups of supporters to the stadium, which is a 10-minute walk to the Besiktas Park stadium.

Police are recommending that individuals who do not join the fan walk are clothed neutrally, without club colours.

All supporters should be aware that gates for the away section open at 19:00.

The best way to reach the Taksim Gezi Park is via the local subway. Disembark at "Taksim" for meeting point, and “Şişhane” for the local pubs/bars close to the meeting point.

Supporters should stay in Taksim and not enter into Beşiktaş district at any time. Please use this map for further guidance.

Please also note that there will be a police escort back to Taksim Gezi Park after the game. Any supporters not joining this should not wear club colours when they exit the stadium grounds.

Entering the stadium

Supporters will need to use PDF tickets, either printed or scanned via mobile phones, to enter the stadium.

Supporters in possession of a Category One ticket must not wear or carry any items displaying the Crystal Palace crest or logo. Please be advised that any supporters who fail to comply with this requirement will be denied entry to the stadium.

Inside the stadium

Please be advised that no alcohol will be sold inside the stadium, in accordance with local rules.

Cash and card is valid in the Besiktas Park stadium; however, coins are not allowed.

In addition, power banks are not allowed inside the stadium.

Pre-match light show

Before the entrance of the two teams, there will be a light show. The light show will contain flashing images, lights and entertainment.

Any supporters who suffer from light sensitivity should head to the concourses if affected.

Tickets

There will be an away allocation of approximately 2,100 Palace supporters for the match at Beşiktaş Park.

Tickets are strictly non-transferrable. Anyone found transferring tickets without the club’s consent will be banned from purchasing for future European fixtures.

Tickets have been distributed by Crystal Palace Football Club from Friday, 16th October as PDFs, via email. Please note it tickets will be distributed across the next three working days (Friday, Monday, Tuesday).

All tickets will be emailed to the lead purchaser, not the individual ticket holder.

Journey to the stadium

Beşiktaş Park is around a 15-minute walk from Taksim Square.

If supporters are unable to walk to the stadium it is recommended you get a Taxi. Uber is available throughout the city, or the local yellow cabs can be hailed.

The roads directly around Beşiktaş Park will be closed in the hours immediately before and after the game. Supporters should ask to be dropped off on Meclis-i-Mebusann CD. From here it is a short, but very steep, walk to the stadium entrance.

Entrance M-1-5 should be used by visiting supporters.

Please note that wheelchair users and supporters who require step-free access to the General Admission turnstiles should use the Category 1 ticket entrance.

Stadium Information

Only small cross body bags will be permitted inside the stadium.
There is no bag drop facility and supporters with bags larger than a small cross body bag will be refused entry to the stadium.
Please note – no alcohol is available inside the stadium.
Coins and power banks are not allowed inside the stadium.
Flags permitted, but supporters will need to send a photograph and dimensions by email to customer.service@cpfc.co.uk and the club will obtain permission from Beşiktaş.
Supporters should expect to be held back for between 45 and 90 minutes after the full-time whistle.
Supporters sat in Category 1 seats will be held back for around 20 minutes after the full-time whistle.

City recommendations

Taksim Square, widely considered the centre of modern Istanbul, has a lively, vibrant offering for visitors.

There are a variety of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, Doner kebab stands and shopping areas in the square.

Istanbul Airport – one of the busiest in Europe – is located in the Arnavutköy district on the European side of the city. A taxi from the Airport to Taksim Square takes between 45 minutes to an hour.

Alternatively, the metro from the airport to the square takes around 50 minutes. Visitors would need to take the M11 line to Gayrettepe, then transfer to the M2 line straight to Taksim.

General information

Throughout the city of Istanbul, cash is generally preferred, but most places will accept major cards.

Passports must be carried by visiting supporters during their stay at all times. This is in accordance with Turkish law.
