“We’re disappointed not to get the win,” the forward said after the game. “Like you said, there was a lot of emotions, obviously with the red card, which we felt was a bit harsh.
“But I think the team showed great spirit to come back and to keep fighting until the end and we got our reward in the end.
“Any time we play for this football club, we want to give back. The fans are pushing us a lot, so I always try to give my best and try to help the team.
“We had a bit of momentum, so I thought we could get another one, but it was unfortunate it wasn't today.”
The forward entered the field of play on the 55-minute mark – with Palace having created a number of chances at that point, but trailing to an early effort from Hoffenheim’s Alexander Press.
“It was tough,” Nketiah said of the game. “They're a good team. I think they played well in the first- half.
“It was a bit chaotic to be honest. I always try to attack in behind, try and be dangerous, be a threat, and relieve a bit of pressure, especially when we went down to 10 men.
“I was happy with some of the contributions I made, but there's so much more to give from myself and from the team, so we're going to work hard and hopefully put that right on Sunday.
“Any time we're in a competition we want to go all the way, so this is no different. It's game by game.
“We need to pick up points and pick up points fast. We’ll get ready for Sunday and I'm sure when the next Europa League game comes we'll be ready for another three points.”
