Report: Palace Women defeated at Selhurst

It was a game defined by an early red card, with Fuka Tsunoda's dismissal in the seventh minute leaving Palace with ten players for the majority of the game.

The Eagles started brightly, with Bethany England firing just wide in the fifth minute.

The decisive moment came on minute seven though, with Tsunoda sent off for a dangerous challenge on Cathinka Tandberg.

The Eagles defended strongly for the first-half, but a well-taken hat-trick in the second-half from Olivia Holdt and goals from Victoria Pelova, Shekeira Martinez and Amanda Nildén consigned the Eagles to defeat.

Goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin had another good game in between the sticks, with her denying the Lilywhites on a number of occasions.

Her finest save came in the 38th minute, where she acrobatically tipped a fierce strike from Amanda Nildén onto the bar.

Ultimately, Holdt proved to be the star of the show, striking three times within 23 minutes.

Pelova and substitute Martinez added goals late on, as the red card induced fatigue ultimately told in South London.

Palace will only have to wait three days to make amends though, as we take on Watford in the Subway Player's Cup League Phase on Wednesday, 23rd September.
