Khalaili: We can be proud of ourselves
Anan Khalaili believes Crystal Palace can take great pride in their performance in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road.
The 22-year-old once again provided plenty of cut and thrust for Palace down the right-hand side, proving an attacking threat throughout the game – and almost teeing up Tyrick Mitchell for the winner, but for a VAR ruling for offside.
And at the other end of the pitch, Khalaili was ubiquitous, making three clearances, two tackles and an interception as Pierre Sage’s side recorded a first Premier League clean sheet of the season.
On a ground where Newcastle United had conceded four less than a week prior, and against an intense opponent who had three days’ additional preparation time, it was certainly a creditable result for Palace.
Khalaili recognised this on Palace TV, saying: “It was a tough game first of all, and we can be proud of ourselves because we gave our best and did the most important thing: we didn’t concede.
“We can take a lot of positive things. We created a lot of opportunities, and it was okay.
“I believe in that [Palace are making progress], I believe in my teammates, and we will do great things.”

Khalaili is now six games into his Palace career following his summer switch from Union SG, and has enjoyed his time in South London thus far.
He smiled: “It’s nice – London is one of the best cities in the world!
“I really enjoy being here, especially at this club.
“It means everything to me and I’m happy to be here.”
