Palace Women have enjoyed a promising start to the 2026/27 Barclays Women's Super League campaign, claiming six points from our opening five league games.
It was a different picture two years ago, as the Eagles had just embarked on their first-ever season in the top-flight.
After back-to-back defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, Palace were still searching for their first goal and first win in the WSL.
A trip to Leicester beckoned, and it was here that Annabel Blanchard made history.

The first 45 minutes saw both teams cancel each other out, with Shae Yañez hardly called into action at all.
The Eagles came out firing in the second-half though, and we had our first-ever WSL goal within ten minutes of the restart.
Mille Gejl retrieved the ball from the Leicester midfield and found Blanchard in a dangerous position.
The No.17 instinctively played the ball first time to Katie Lampson (née Stengel) who cutely laid the ball off for Blanchard to slam home against her old team.
You couldn't ask for a better first goal, and Palace Women finally had their first in the top-flight.

The rain lashed down at the King Power as Leicester pushed for an equaliser.
It wouldn't come though, as things got even better for Blanchard and Palace.
Chelsea loanee Lexi Potter - who was recently called up to the England squad for the first time - was brought down in the Leicester box on 68 minutes.
Up stepped Blanchard, and she buried her penalty in the opposite corner to her first goal.
Palace were 2-0 up and cruising to a first-ever win in the WSL.

Celebrations were loud in the Palace end at full-time, a Blanchard brace had secured a 2-0 away victory at Leicester City in the WSL.
It would prove to be a tricky maiden campaign for the Eagles, with the team eventually relegated in April 2025.
Since then, Manager Jo Potter has guided the team to an immediate return to the WSL where they have more than held their own.
Their next fixture is a home clash against West Ham on Sunday, 18th October at 12:00.
