Crystal Palace Women suffered defeat in Sutton for the first time since December 2025, after a resilient West Ham won 1-0.

It was a game with few clear cut chances, as Palace struggled to break down the West Ham backline.

A mix-up at the back saw the visitors take the lead, with Oona Siren squaring to Gago to tap into an empty net.

Palace improved in the second-half but ultimately could not find an equaliser in Sutton.

Palace No.9 Bethany England had the first half-chance of the game, firing an effort across goal which no-one was on the end of.

The visitors took the lead on 30 minutes, after Siren pounced on a miscontrolled touch from Aimee Everett and squared the ball to Gago who slotted home.

England had the ball in the back of the net just before the break after she coolly finished from Abbie Larkin's cross, but the linesman's flag was up as soon as the ball nestled.

Palace were on top for most of the second-half in Sutton, with Lexi Lloyd-Smith getting a lot of joy on the left-wing.

She beat her defender on several occasions, but could not find the right cross after cutting inside.

West Ham's Viviane Asseyi would have made it 2-0 on 72 minutes if not for Everett, who blocked her goalbound effort on the line with a superb bit of play.

Substitute Shannon O'Brien had the best Palace chance of the day, as the ball fell kindly to her in the box after a cleared effort from Molly Bartrip.

The No.27 fired her effort over the bar though, as the referee then blew for a West Ham free-kick.

With just one minute of added time, Palace ran out of time to equalise and the visitors walked away with the win.

This result leaves the Eagles in tenth-place, with many teams still yet to play in the WSL.

Potter's side will have the opportunity to make amends next Sunday, as we host Chelsea at The 360 Engage Stadium at 12:00 GMT.
