Star-spangled prospect

Having established himself as one of the United States’ most promising prospects, 19-year-old Zavier Gozo has signed a five-year deal in South London.

Gozo’s father Alban Gozo, originally from the Ivory Coast, was also a footballer. He suffered an injury playing in France which ended his playing days prematurely. But despite this, Alban was still a big influence on Zavier’s career, as was his brother.

Utah-born Zavier Gozo joined the Real Salt Lake academy in 2021 and – following two years of eye-catching displays with Real Monarchs in the MLS Next Pro division – earned his Major League Soccer debut at just 16 years of age in October 2023.

Impressing with his pace, creativity and flair, Gozo has enjoyed a standout 2026 thus far, with six goals and four assists in RSL’s first 16 league games of the year – in turn earning himself a call-up for the 2026 MLS All-Star Game.

The attacker has also earned the attention of the U.S. Youth National Team, winning numerous call-ups for the Stars and Stripes at every level up to Under-23s. He was a starring member of the USA side which reached the 2024 CONCACAF U20s Championship final and the 2025 U20 World Cup quarter-finals.

Gozo’s form in the 2026 Major League Soccer season saw him touted as a potential inclusion for the USMNT’s World Cup squad. Although this didn’t materialise, he is still considered one of the most exciting American talents currently around and will be aiming to win that first senior cap at the earliest opportunity.
