Here are just five reasons to watch Palace's game in Germany.
Five reasons to watch Palace's game with Freiburg TODAY (13:00 BST)
Crystal Palace take on the Europa League finalists in our final pre-season friendly (Saturday, 13:00 BST) ahead of 2026/27 – LIVE on Palace TV+.
The boys are back in town
Several of our World Cup stars have returned to pre-season training this week. Our own World Cup-winner Yéremy Pino was given a hero’s welcome, while the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta and captain Dean Henderson are also back with the squad.
They could get their first minutes of pre-season on Saturday against the Bundesliga side – a major boost just seven days out from our opening Premier League game away at Everton.
A first glimpse of our new arrivals
After signing for the Eagles this week, Dwight McNeil and Anan Khalaili headed out to Germany to join up with his new teammates.
And the duo only have a few days of training, they could get their first minutes in a Palace shirt in Saturday’s friendly and possibly link-up with fellow arrival Evann Guessand.
Any appearance would mark their unofficial Eagles debuts. And for McNeil, could his official first game come against former club Everton next week? Time will tell.

How will Sage distribute the minutes?
Whilst Manager Pierre Sage will be working towards putting together a team for the opening Premier League fixture against the Toffees, he’ll also be looking to make sure every player has enough minutes in the tank following our final pre-season fixture.
Expect plenty of substitutions throughout the game, but with multiple strong XIs on show.
As Sage said recently to Palace TV in Como, the challenge for his team now is to "activate Premier League mode." Let's hope the Eagles do just that on Saturday.
A true European test
Ahead of the Europa League beginning next month – with the draw for the league phase in less than two weeks’ time – Freiburg offer a classic continental test.
The German club reached the final of the very competition that Palace will enter this season last term.
While Freiburg and Palace won’t meet in a competitive scenario this season – our opponents will be in the Conference League for 2026/27 – this game still offers a great dress rehearsal for the return of European away days.

The final pre-season test
This is the last chance to watch Palace in action before the big kick-off against Everton seven days later.
Whilst pre-season fixtures are always about more than just results, signing off with a win would be a huge boost with the real stuff right around the corner.
