The versatile Spain international became Palace’s first signing of the summer back in early July, having come through the ranks of Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy and won the Copa del Rey, before being named in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season last year with Celta Vigo.
He has since featured twice in a pre-season disrupted by injury, but returned from the start in last weekend’s trip to Freiburg.
Mingueza could therefore be in contention to make a competitive – and Premier League – debut when Palace visit Everton on Saturday afternoon.
“I'm just looking to have a good season,” Mingueza outlined to cpfc.co.uk on the verge of the new campaign. “I've been really focused on getting fit again because of the summer.
“With the pre-season we have been running a lot, we've been training a lot, and I think it was a really good pre-season. It was tough, we trained so hard, we pushed so hard – and now the season starts, and I think it's going to be really good.
“I think we will enjoy it a lot.”
On Saturday’s game on Merseyside, Mingueza added: “Across all the team, we only set out to win. We want to win. We are going to go to win and first, to win, we have to do everything correctly.
“We have to go step by step in the game, so I think the most important thing is to be competitive, to do what we have to do, and then the win will come.”
