The Eagles’ first home fixture of the 2026/27 season will see them welcome Enzo Maresca’s Citizens to SE25.
Sage confirmed that Palace will be without Sarr and Riad – both injured – for the game, but it could mark a possible debut for new loan arrival Axel Disasi.
“Ismaïla Sarr is in individual sessions,” the Manager confirmed. “He is in pain with his groin – that’s why you didn’t see him [train] with us today.
“But we’ll prepare him – he needs time. I thought it would be quicker but I am not medical [staff] – that’s why I wait for him, and we’ll prepare him to come back with us.”
On Riad, who went off injured against Everton on opening weekend, Sage added: “For the moment we need more advice from a specialist, because it’s always difficult to give a good schedule for this kind of thing.
“That’s why I prefer to wait, and to give you an official position.”
The Manager was also asked about Disasi, whose season-long signing on loan from Chelsea was confirmed shortly before his pre-match press conference.
“Now it’s official, so it’s good news for us,” Sage smiled, “especially with what happened with Chadi. That’s why it’s important for us he arrived quickly.
“He is ready. He had his first session with us today. We will see if he’s able to play on Friday he didn’t play in collective conditions during the beginning of the season, but he’s a football player, and e have the opportunity to help him with time to come in the team.”
On Disasi’s qualities, Sage added: “[He’ll help us] first of all to be stable, to help the team in this department, because we have an injury and we wanted to recruit.
“He gave us the confidence with his experience. He’s able to play well with the ball and he’s able to defend in different positions in the back three, that’s why he’s a good addition for us.”
