World Cup 2026: Your favourite Palace moment of the tournament

It's been a World Cup full of memorable moments from a Palace perspective – and you've now selected your favourite.

Pino became the first active Palace player to win the World Cup, after Ferran Torres rifled the ball into the roof during extra-time, which brought an end to the largest tournament in history.

104 matches were played, with plenty of standout moments from Palace’s representatives along the way.

There was so much to proud of. But you've voted for Yéremy Pino becoming a World Cup winner as your Palace moment of the tournament.

It's a fitting result, Pino becoming the first active Palace player to get his hands on a World Cup winner's medal, after La Roja won the tournament for the second time.

Highlights from the tournament

Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma both helped Colombia in their run to the last 16, with Muñoz producing a stunning finish against Uzbekistan to score their first goal of the Finals.

The wing-back was also named player of the match and would enjoy an excellent Finals for Los Cafeteros.

The group stage also featured the first direct meeting between two Palace teammates at the World Cup Finals when defender Maxence Lacroix started for France against a Norway side that included forward Jørgen Strand Larsen.

On that occasion France won 4-1, but Norway would also enjoy a memorable tournament, reaching the last eight for the very first time.

Daichi Kamada would become the first Palace player to score twice at the same finals for Japan.

Kamada diverted a flying header from Koki Ogaw into the net to salvage a point against the Netherlands in their first game.

The midfielder then finished off a flowing team move just four minutes into their 4-0 win over Tunisia.

Kamada would also become only the second Eagle to feature in a World Cup Finals' knockout stage game – following on from Gregg Berhalter in 2002.

A number of Palace players would follow this by appearing in the knockout stage, most notably Ismaïla Sarr, who scored a wonderful goal in a thrilling Round of 32 tie with Belgium.

Senegal ultimately lost but Sarr can be proud of his efforts, scoring four goals in total at the Finals after also getting a double against Norway in the group stage.
