This season, we have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.
Scout will be using their expertise to provide advice and gameweek tips which should prove useful in ensuring you win your mini-leagues.
Remember that the Gameweek 8 deadline is at 18:30 BST tonight (Friday, 23rd October) – so make sure you've made your changes ahead of time!
Chris Richards (£4.9m) picked up Defensive Contribution points for the fourth time in a row in Gameweek 7, owing to his 13 defensive actions during the weekend’s fixture. That means he has now done so in 71.4% of his games this season and is ranked equal-third amongst all defenders in the game for this metric.
Fellow defensive partners Jaydee Canvot (£4.8m) and Anan Khalaili (£5.0m) just missed out, registering nine defensive contributions each.
To gain two extra points, defenders in FPL must hit a threshold of 10 defensive actions (clearances, blocks, interceptions and successful tackles) in a single game.
Khalaili also took two shots in the game, hitting the target with one of those. He has now taken the fourth-most shots of defenders in FPL with 11 this season but the Palace defender has started one less game than all of the players ahead of him. The 22-year-old is averaging a shot every 51 minutes at present.
Pedro Neto’s (£6.5m) double for Chelsea saw him finish as the highest-scoring FPL player of the Gameweek. As well as his goals, the Portuguese international got a clean sheet and collected all three bonus points for the game, giving him a total of 15-points.
Popular captain choice Erling Haaland (£15.7) rewarded the 76.8% of managers with him in their side with 13-points. He bagged a brace and picked up three bonus points in Manchester City’s win over Ipswich Town.
Bournemouth forward Evanilson (£6.1m) also scored well. He returned 12-points thanks to a goal, an assist and three bonus points in their game against Sunderland.
Newcastle United are Crystal Palace’s opponents for Gameweek 8. In FPL, their highest-scoring player is Lewis Hall (£5.3m).
Across the opening seven games, Hall has scored one goal, registered one assist and claimed six bonus points.
Nine Premier League sides, including Crystal Palace, have European fixtures this week. With so many teams in action FPL managers should try, if possible, to hold their transfers until after the culmination of these matches on Thursday evening.
With many tough-to-call fixtures in Gameweek 8, it could be an interesting time to explore a differential captain. While it can be daunting to take on the usual names in the captaincy debate, it also offers the chance for huge leaps in rank if things go your way.
