In his pre-match press conference, Enzo Maresca said he expected a difficult evening in South London for his first away league game as City boss.
"Palace away is always complicated," he said. "It’s a complicated pitch, a good team, and a new manager has arrived.
"You can see from pre-season and the first game what they want to do – it’s quite clear. It’s similar to Oliver Glasner, their former manager. No doubt it is going to be a tough game.
Maresca won his first league game in charge against Bournemouth last week, although his team did trail with just ten minutes to play before a late turnaround.
Former Palace man Marc Guéhi scored the first goal, with Maresca deploying him in an unusual deep-lying midfield role.
