Preview: Burnley

5 October 2012

Burnley arrive at Selhurst Park struggling to find form this season, recording only two wins from their previous 10 games in all competitions, and currently sit in 15th in the Championship table.

The Clarets drew both their games during the past week, conceding late goals to Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday that saw a potential six points turn into just two. However their last away game saw them leave Pride Park with only their third league victory of the campaign after beating Derby County 2-1.

They do boast the league's sharpest striker though in Charlie Austin, who has fired in 11 goals in the Championship and another three in the Capital One Cup, and has only failed to find the back of the net in two of his 14 appearances this season. He bagged a hat-trick in the midweek 3-3 draw with Wednesday, and has scored in the Clarets' last five outings.

Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha is a doubt after suffering a hamstring strain during the Eagles' 2-1 win at Wolves, whilst Kagashi Dikgacoi missed the game with a groin strain and is rated 50/50 to face Burnley. Peter Ramage is touch and go for a starting spot after recovering from a thigh problem but Paddy McCarthy is a long-term injury concern with a groin injury.

Burnley: Captain Jason Shackell missed both the Millwall and Wednesday games after suffering an injury in the pre-match warm-up at The Den, and young striker Danny Ings is back in training after a knee injury but won't feature at Selhurst.
