Ian Holloway gave his pre-match views to the Palace website ahead of his side's clash with Barnsley this Saturday. Here's what he had to say:
On Palace's promotion push
We have got six games left and we have to win a third more than two of the other teams to get the automatic spot. We have to believe we can do it but we have to do better than what we are doing at the moment. I have reinforced the stats from a few of the games when I first came here because we have been as good apart from the goals against column. We need to show strength and belief. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to come through this spell.
I have showed them some things today that will show them that we can change it round. If Hull would have beaten Watford it would have been difficult but they didn't so let's get going. We are still in the hat, but we need to get on with it.
On Saturday's match against Barnsley
We need to keep creating a place for the players to express themselves. Nerves creep in because there are games you need to win. You only have to look at last season when this team had a great cup run and they had some spare games which they lost. You need an environment, which I am entirely sure our fans will create by bouncing on their feet. It is really important we get them through this. You have to learn to play your best football at the hardest times and that is what I am encouraging. We have some players back for the game on Saturday. The lads who were out there were fantastic and we had a good meeting. It is time for action now.
I want to see what it means to them on Saturday. Everybody is after the same prize which is the Premier League's fault. It would be an extra bonus if we got it. I need them to realise they have had a fantastic season. You don't just judge it on the last three games, you judge it on all the games we have played. They had a bad start but showed character and they are having a bit of a blip now but we just need to get a goal. They couldn't let me down if they tried because I believe in what they are doing. The response will be there against Barnsley. The energy needs to be recreated by the fans and the players together.
On regaining confidence
Sometimes you can think that you have not done very well and the crowd doesn't like you which takes the energy out of you. I have assured our players that the fans will be there on Saturday. I showed them a video of the Hull game which proved we can play well in big games. The downer that night was that we got sloppy and let them score two. As far I am concerned we need to tweak what we have been doing and get that first goal if we can.
We need to be a bit more positive at times. We tried to break Blackpool down the other day but they had eight players behind the ball when they had a player unfairly sent off. So let's get on with the next one. We have to take the emotion out of the situation and just play.
