Holloway: Pre-Watford

7 February 2013

Ian Holloway gave his pre-match views to the Palace website ahead of his side's visit to Watford this Friday. Here's what he had to say:

On Watford

You've got to earn it. Some of the stats we've produced away have definitely merited better scores than we've got but we've just got to get on a winning run if we can. We're still in and about the area we want to be. Having watched Watford I have to congratulate their manager on their new style and how they're trying to pass it and move. They look completely littered with fantastic footballers. It will be a tought. We'll be well prepared I know what they do and how they do it, having to try and stop that is another thing. I'm looking forward to the chance of going there and I can't see anything else other than us going here and putting in a good performance.

On The Run-In

Everything's vital from now on in. What's vital to me is that we go there and try and play a decent calibre of football, try and take them on and win the match. We'll try and take them on. If we can win again we're back in the mix but I think we're in the mix anyway. The next two games in particular, Watford and Middlesbrough, you could call them vital but I'd rather look at it as a fantasic opportunity to see where we are and enjoy it. Whatever happens I will be breathing on Saturday morning, whether we win, draw or lose I'll be ready to go again and I think the lads will.

On Signings

I will only take the right person and someone who I think will go straight in the team. I think Stephen Dobbie and Kevin Phillips can. I have got an opportunity to take a match-winner who has not got a contract with anyone...will I do that? I'm not quite sure. He looks a match-winner but he also looks like...can he be bothered to run. I'll work on it. I'm not going to tell you any names (though), I don't make promises I can't keep.

On Odemwingie

I haven't got a clue about that at all. That's my honest answer. Someone contacted the chairman, the chairman mentioned would I want him? I said, good gracious me, of course I would. I don't know what the situation is, apparently his wife wants to come back to London I've been told. We're a London club, he can't go to another London club higher than us. I don't really think that's a realistic target for us (though). I think you have to be realistic and I'm delighted with the two I've just added.
