Jan Molby in fine form at the Crystal Palace FC February Sporting Dinner

Tales from the dressing rooms of one of the most successful teams in history was the main topic of conversation as former Denmark international and Liverpool legend Jan Molby was the special guest at the February Sporting Dinner at the Croydon Hilton last Thursday. Hailed by former Liverpool mManager Kenny Dalglish as ‘one of the finest midfielders of his generation’, the great Dane began his career in the famed Ajax academy, coming through with the likes of Marco Van Basten, Frank Rijkaard and Jesper Olsen to play alongside Johan Cruyff as the Dutchman came to the end of his career with the Dutch champions.

With more than 200 guests in attendance, the night was a fundraiser for the CPFC Youth Academy, and was hosted by top MC and Palace fan Barry Williams who also introduced comedian Jimmy Bright, who received a standing ovation from the packed Weatherall Hall. The club would like to thank Alan Betteridge and Robert Rudd from groundwork and civil engineering company Rudridge for their support and their sponsorship of this event.

The club's end of season Sporting Dinner is on Thursday 9th May, and we are delighted to announce that the very special guest is former England manager, and Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle United legend, Kevin Keegan, OBE. Tables for 10 people for this very special event are £950 + vat and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. The two times European footballer of the year talks about his spectacular career, the highs and lows of a life in football, all ably hosted once again by our very own Barry Williams. There’s top comedy from a very special comedian, a superb three course meal, raffles and sporting auction. It’s a night that you won’t want to miss.
