Kaikai Signs New Palace Deal

7 January 2014

Development attacker Sullay Kaikai has been rewarded for his fine form for the under-21 side this season by signing a long-term contract at the club.

The 18 year old has progressed through the club's academy since the age of 14 and has shone this season for Gary Issott's side, netting six goals in 10 official appearances this term which have all come in the last six games. He has also impressed in a number of behind-closed-doors friendlies.

Already a set-piece specialist despite his age, Kaikai made a number of appearances for the academy side last season before excelling for the under-21s this season, and has been named in a number of the first-team's recent matchday squads despite not making the bench yet.

“I feel like it's a great achievement and that all my hard work has paid off, so I'd like to thank the club for awarding me the contract,” he said.

“I feel like I've adapted quite well this season in the development league. Last season I played a few games at that level and that helped me find my feet and it's been a good step for me to be playing regularly for them, so now the aim is to push on into the first team.

“When you play with players in the younger age groups and you see them progress it gives you the mindset that you can progress as well. Hiram Boateng started on the weekend so it gives me hope that I can do the same thing.

“I just hope to train with the first team more often from now on and if I get given the chance I'll hopefully take it.”
