This week saw the first Crystal Palace FC Golf Day of the year, which took place in the plush surroundings of Sweetwoods Park Golf Course, owned by Eagles co-owner, Martin Long.
The day’s proceedings were again kindly sponsored by Europa Quality Print, owned by Palace fan Kevin Ibrahim (pictured), who is a huge supporter of the club both on the corporate side and in the stands.
The 18 teams on the day were made up of club sponsors and corporate clients, and they were joined for the proceedings by club legends Steve Coppell, Jim Cannon, Kenny Sansom and Ian Evans.
Members of the Palace management and coaching staff also took part, including Keith Millen and Ben Garner. There was some changeable weather on the day, but despite this there was some great golf played and fierce competition for the day’s prizes which were kindly provided by Lynx Golf.
Following the 27 holes of competition, Sweetwoods played host to an evening prize-giving dinner, along with comedy from Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan. Fundraising also took place on the day and CPFC academy partner Mark Smith kindly donated a round of golf at The Wisley to the auction, raising over £1,000 for the academy.
The club would like to say a huge thank you to all of those who made the event such a success, in particular to Kevin Ibrahim of Europa Quality Print for sponsoring the event, Ian Wilkinson of Lynx Golf for providing the day’s prizes, Martin Long for offering use of Sweetwoods Park Golf Course, Mark Smith for donating to the evening’s main auction and of course all of the companies and clients who took part on the day.
The day’s winners were:
Team Stableford: CPFC Study Centre
Individual Stableford & Longest Drive: Dave Hunt, CPFC Study Centre
Texas Scramble: CCM Interiors
Closest to Pin: Ian Harvey, Whitgift Centre
