U21s Report: QPR 5-2 Crystal Palace

31 August 2015

Palace's development side fell to their first defeat of the season at Queens Park Rangers, although there were some positives for the Eagles with Patrick Bamford grabbing a goal and Jonny Williams playing his first 45 minutes of the season.

The Eagles found themselves two goals down in quick succession just after the half-hour mark when Gianni Crichlow found a way past Palace keeper Kieton Perntreou, and two minutes later centre back Harly Wise scored from close range after a corner.

Bamford then pulled one back on 52 minutes when he scored from a tight angle, but just 60 seconds later their hard work was undone as Ben Gladwin restored the two goal lead when he turned in an Aaron Mitchell cross.

There was a glimmer of hope when Perntreou saved a Frankie Sutherland penalty on 56 minutes, but eight minutes later it was game over when some mis-communication between the keeper and Luke Croll led to the defender scoring an own goal.

Darnell Furlong then added a fifth on 68 minutes as the Hoops looked to run rampant, but it was Palace who would score the final goal of the afternoon when Jake Gray pulled back a consolation with six minutes remaining.
