Crystal Palace Football Club have appointed ex-Liverpool FC sports doctor, Zafar Iqbal, as its new Head of Sports Medicine heading up the SE25 medical team ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season.
“My role will be to look after the sports medicine care and medical provision for all playing staff, through all the ages,” Iqbal said.
“Initially, the priority will be with the first team and once new medical care standards have been established there, we will apply them to the Development squad, Academy and all the other age groups.”
Mr Iqbal specialised in sports medicine in 2005 and has previously worked for Leyton Orient FC, the England youth sides, Tottenham Hotspur FC and most recently, Liverpool FC.
Iqbal continued, “I’m very excited by everything I’ve heard about the Club and everyone knows that Palace has a great fan base. The owners are looking to make major improvements across all areas of the Club and that excites me the most."
