Yannick Bolasie's two goals, one in each half, helped the Eagles secure victory at Selhurst Park, with a convincing 5-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Scoring with both his left and right foot, the winger’s first half goal put the Eagles 2-1 up, with his second coming only two minutes into the second half.
Speaking after the match, Bolasie hailed a collective team performance for creating the opportunities which saw Palace record only their second Premier League victory over the Toon Army.
“Today was a massive victory. The whole team put in a performance and when you’ve got players like Macca (James McArthur) and Yohan in the centre, you’re know you’re going to get chances to score.”
Starting the game as a second striker, Bolasie was grateful for his chance to play in a more central position before switching to the wing for the second half.
“I think the gaffer has always had confidence in my ability to play up front or just behind the striker, but the wingers were really important and Wilf and Puncheon showed that with the amount of chances they created.”
Bolasie finished the afternoon by setting up McArthur for the fifth and final goal of the game, and will be hoping the goals keep flowing when Palace face Everton a week on Monday.
