Jason Puncheon threw his shirt into the crowd at the final whistle, celebrating with the Palace faithful who cheered on the team and created what must have felt like a home atmosphere such was the noise from the west side of Wembley stadium.
However it was the performance of the team that gave the fans so much to cheer about, and Puncheon says every player gave their all in a game that means the Eagles reach the FA Cup final for their second time in history.
“I thought from the start we deserved it - we started well, they were always going to have their moment with it being the semi-final, but we saw it through and got there. Everyone raised their game and were a seven, eight out of ten, and that helped us.”
With only Manchester United now standing in the way of lifting the cup, players and supporters will be daring to dream about walking those Wembley steps up to the royal box as triumphant winners, and the midfielder believes beating United is well within the team’s capabilities.
“We’ve got a great group and we can achieve something, on our day we can beat anyone. I think we’re good enough and we know that as well so we just want to take our game to that game and hopefully go out there and win.”
