Christian Benteke has been handed his Crystal Palace debut by Alan Pardew in tonight’s EFL Cup second round tie against Blackpool.
The striker, who only signed from Liverpool on Saturday, will take to the Selhurst Park pitch in his new number 17 shirt for the first time, and is part of a strong Palace line-up which also includes maiden starts for Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins.
The Eagles’ other summer signing Andros Townsend also features with James McArthur making his return from injury. Yohan Cabaye, Jordon Mutch and Martin Kelly are given the chance to accumulate minutes under their respective belts, while Jason Puncheon faces the club he was on loan at back in 2011.
Gary Bowyer meanwhile has kept faith with the majority of the team that knocked out Bolton Wanderers in the first round, although he hands a debut to Armand Gnanduillet up front who was most recently at Leyton Orient.
