Assistant Manager Keith Millen spoke at his pre-match press conference about how the group have been reacting following the departure of Alan Pardew on Thursday as they reported to Beckenham Training Ground for their latest training session.
"Firstly as a group we have had the shock and disappointment but the Chairman spoke to me last night and asked me to take training so I had a brief chat with them before we went out. I explained to them the situation and as expected there were a lot of sad faces around the training ground as the manager had lost his job but it is a reflection on all of us that we have not had enough good results and ultimately the manager pays the price."
Once the players were back out on the training ground attention soon turned to the Boxing Day game and Millen talked of the players resilience as they look to the next objective.
"It is amazing how resilient players can be though as we said to them we have a big game coming up against Watford so deal with this situation how you need to individually but we have to go out and train, prepare for the game and be ready for Boxing Day.
"We are looking at who we have available and getting a team together that we can go to Watford with looking to win the game."
