Alan Pardew spoke post-match about how the point at Swansea City felt like a win following Scott Dann's close range effort put his side back on level terms.
"It felt good, we knew we had to get something as we couldn't go another game under the pressure so it was a very important result for us,
"It was a tough game, there was a lot of energy and commitment from both teams but we just did enough. The start of the second half was our best period and that changed the game a little bit.
"We knew we needed to get off that 31 points because it was really starting to strangle us".
The manager was delighted with the way his side responded after words at half-time.
“We had to sit ourselves down at half-time and take away the tyre that we were dragging behind us after five defeats.
“Make no mistake, it was the Crystal Palace DNA which got us home by getting blocks in at the end.
“We thwarted a Swansea side who are in good form, so it makes it a little bit more sweet that we managed to pull it back.
“I was frustrated in the first half because I know these players and I know they are better than that. But, in football, if there’s a slight doubt in your mind and you take on too much tactically you can’t play with instinct.
“We managed to get them to think differently in the second half and it helped us.”
Emmanuel Adebayor started his first match in a Palace shirt and his 86 minutes of action went down well with his new gaffer and in the knowledge that he has further players coming back from injury.
"He had a couple of moments that were top drawer and it was good and you can see he will add something to us.
"But we need more players back, next week I get Connor Wickham and Gayley back and that will make a big difference to us because we look like we still need a bit more going forward at this level."
