The Eagles’ academy side moved to the top of the U18 Professional Development League 2 table by comfortably beating Queens Park Rangers at their Harlington training ground.
It took them just 19 minutes to get on the scoresheet when a short corner was played into the box from the right, and Levi Lumeka ghosted into space unmarked and stooped low to net a diving header and score his second of the campaign.
Kian Flanagan came close to doubling the lead when he curled a shot just wide of the mark from 25 yards out before Aiden Masais hit one wide from a similar range for the hosts, and then Jason Lokilo nearly steered a pin-point attempt into the bottom corner but Hoops keeper Marcin Brzozowski pushed the ball wide of the far post for a corner.
In the second half the Belgian winger once again stung the palms of Brzozowski with a free-kick from the edge of the area, but seven minutes into the second half he was celebrating after jinking his way around the box and being brought down by a defender, and emphatically tucked home the resulting spot-kick.
Lokilo then sealed the victory with 21 minutes remaining when he latched onto a long pass down the left to race behind the R’s backline and pick out the far corner once again to net his fourth in six under-18 games to send Ken Gillard’s side to the league summit.
