Sam Allardyce has some injury concerns within his defensive unit ahead of the match at Southampton on Wednesday evening. James Tomkins (calf) and Scott Dann (medial ligament) are both definitely unavailable.
Both had to leave the field during the victory at Chelsea but even though Allardyce is losing two experienced defenders he does have others to come into contention for a place in his next starting eleven.
"Scott Dann is a serious one and is in a brace and will be out for a few weeks, we will be working extremely hard to get him back as quick as we can. James Tomkins is not quite so bad but I am not certain on him as to whether he will be just the Southampton game so we will have to wait and see on that one. These injuries will test the squad but we do have replacements defensively to come in with experience in Damien Delaney and Martin Kelly."
Allardyce did also report that Patrick Van Aanholt (ankle) is making good progress although wont be ready for the game at St Mary's but Loic Remy is back in the squad for the trip down to the south coast.
