Zaha: Massive Step Towards Safety

10 April 2017

Two assists from Wilfried Zaha set up the opening goals as the Eagles took control against Arsenal as they bounced straight back from the midweek loss at Southampton.

The winger left the celebrations in the dressing room to explain what the win meant to him but he was struggling to put across just what a victory he had been involved in.

"I really don’t know how to put that result into words, I just don’t know what to say, we are buzzing in that dressing room. It was a great performance by the whole team, we defended so well like we knew we had to because they have got such good players but we managed to get a great win."

This victory, in front of the biggest crowd of the season at Selhurst, came on the back of the victory just over a week ago at leaders Chelsea and Zaha was delighted to see the game plan again come to fruition.

"We showed that if you have your plan you can beat these big teams and we produced that tonight. We showed a commitment that you have to do in these type of games, you have to run the whole game and then when you get the chances you have to take them and that is exactly what we did tonight.

"With the quality they have in their side you know they are always capable of pulling something out of the bag at any time so you have to stay focussed but when the second goal went in we thought we could go on and win the game."

The victory takes the side to 34 points and Palace now face champions Leicester City at Selhurst Park this coming weekend with a real intent to set themselves on another unbeaten run.

"This result is a massive step towards safety because after beating Chelsea we then went down to Southampton and lost so this win is what we needed but we just need to keep on going, starting with the game on Saturday."
