Sam Allardyce goes into the game this evening at AFC Bournemouth looking to start a run of results that could give a major boost to the club’s survival plans.
"We have got to stop losing games, even if we had drawn the last three games it would not look as bad as it does now. We did that at Sunderland and draws can build confidence and can lead to wins
"Everybody started to believe, after being dead and buried. I'd be so happy with a 0-0 draw in this game, it would please me immensely.
"It's a starting point for our survival. We've got to start getting results, beginning with Bournemouth. Games are slipping by.
“As they continue to slip by it gets evermore difficult the longer you go without picking points up. The distance between points and games played gets bigger and bigger”
Eddie Howe's Bournemouth side currently sit 12th in the table and his opposite number is impressed by the continuing progress made by the south-coast club.
“When Eddie returned from Burnley to Bournemouth he worked on a plan with the owners to build the club and he has developed a team with some very good signings in the transfer market and they are where they should be with the form they have showed. When they pull in a player like Jack Wilshere too, that's a massive plus."
A concern for the Palace boss going into the game is the effect transfer speculation has on his group of players so he is frustrated with the timing of this latest fixture.
“That’s the trouble with this window and playing a game on the last day, there is no consideration of the effect it has on you as a manager and your team. There are constant rumours.
“It is not very productive when you are getting a team ready for one of the most important games of our season.”
