Three second half goals in eighteen minutes meant that Palace fell to defeat in the London derby at West Ham and captain, Scott Dann, says the players need to take a look at themselves and also learn to stay in games to have a chance of taking something from the contest.
"We need to look ourselves in the mirror and see if we can do better personally and as a team and I think once we do that we will hopefully start picking up points
"We will have to look back on it and see what happened for us to concede like we did. We edged the first half and probably had the better chances but we know the games are played over 90 minutes and we wanted to come out and show that same determination in the second half. They changed their formation and got some momentum which saw them take the game more to us after the break. We need to better and stay in games for longer as the the opposition get a goal against you they get a lift and we also need to learn when to push on in games to try and get something as quickly today we found ourselves three goals down."
Manager Sam Allardyce spoke of how he felt his team were comfortable until the opening goal and Scott spoke post-match about how all the time you don't concede you have that chance of getting something from the match.
He felt the first half the visitors held the advantage and if the side stick together he can see results turning around and hopes that is sooner rather than later.
"If you can keep a clean sheet you are always in the game and it gives you a better platform to go on and win. The majority of this game we kept their chances to a minimum, obviously the second goal is a great finish but the first goal is always crucial and we had a couple of half chances in the first half. If we score it’s a totally different game but when the match goes on we need to make sure we stick together and dig in so we stay in the game as long as possible especially away from home.
"We need to stay confident as a group going forward but we cant shy away from the fact that we are where we are in the league and we need to start winning games quickly and the sooner we start doing that the better."
