Joel Ward is already seeing changes behind the scenes following the arrival of a new manager and backroom team but as an experienced member of the squad he is not surprised that this comes with a change of boss.
"Just in the few weeks that the new boss has been here he has already made some changes and with the new staff he has added to the club it is an early indication of the marker he wants to put down on the club. I would think things will continue to change through this period and hopefully we will start getting the results and begin moving up the table."
Joel is one of the defensive group that the focus has been on in recent weeks due to the number of goals being conceded but work is in place on a regular basis to ensure that a different style is adapted to help turn the fortunes around.
"We have been working on as a group to improve the defending side of our game on a daily basis and we will continue to do that. We need to build from a solid platform and have a structure to our set up knowing that the quality and threat we possess in the front third will give us an opportunity to go on and win games.
"As a player you are always wanting to improve and learn so your own game grows. You should never sit back and both myself and the team want to move forward, striving for excellence and getting better all the time."
Playing at this level it is tough enough so when results do not go well the squad need to pull on believe to help the player's confidence although Joel says this is something that is commonplace in the Eagles group.
"We are helping each other out, getting back to the basics and doing things in the right way. No one likes to be in the position we are in so we have to come out fighting and show the desire and confidence that we can go back to where we should be.
"New staff changes the dynamic of everything and we use the freshness that brings and build our confidence so with new ideas we can get better and take things forward. As a player you have to adapt to the differences that the this brings and how they want us to play but you have to do that quickly, whilst as players going about the job that we are being expected to do."
