Frank de Boer was pleased to be coming back from France reflecting on more preparation being completed against FC Metz, a game that saw his side coming close to returning home with a pre-season victory.
“I thought we controlled the game and we created a number of chances. Christian Benteke was unlucky not to have scored having hit the bar on a couple of occasions and overall I felt we controlled the game.
“On 75 minutes I was very satisfied but then our shape was not so good as it had been but even though you want to win this type of game overall we can be satisfied with the performance.”
Both Jairo Riedewald and Jason Lokilo were given their first starts by the Eagles boss and even though he knows all about Jairo, he was happy with his first sighting of young Jason.
“Jairo is an experienced player even though he is still a youngster he has been involved in many games and came in and did very well whilst Jason started a little nervous but after that he played his own game and can be very positive about his performance.”
Seven days before the start of the Premier League campaign De Boer will be taking his place in the home dugout for the first time on August 5th when Schalke are the opponents as Palace complete their pre-season programme.
“It will be the first time that I manage a Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park and I am looking forward to it and I am sure we will have a good attendance there on the day to help push the team forward in our final game before the season gets underway.”
