Wilfried Zaha was a member of a delighted dressing room as the victory against Hull City sealed the club's top flight status for a record breaking fifth season.
The early goal settled the nerves and the winger kept calm as he was presented with the chance to fire home the opening goal of this convincing win in the last home game of the season.
"The game was massive and we knew what we had to do and I am just so happy we were able to get the result in the end.
"When I saw the defender miss it I thought, ‘thank god’ but obviously I had to relax and finish it, I am so happy I was able to do that."
A capacity home crowd was given the perfect start and were entertained as a valuable three points were served up for them on the Sunday lunchtime menu.
"Obviously everyone was nervous because we knew how big the game was, once I got through and scored I think that started to take the pressure off and we were able to start playing a bit more freely and we got control of the game and I am just buzzing we won.
"The talent we have in the team is crazy but you have to do it each week, you have to turn up in games and that is what we did today and people saw how good we are.
"Today was a big win for the players but also for the fans because they turn up all season and its been hard but they have supported us the whole time so that was for them."
