James McArthur believed that Palace’s latest point on the road was crucial as they continue their push further away from the bottom three after a battling 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road.
“It’s a massive point, the first half we were not good enough but we upped it in the second half but were not fortunate enough to get a goal but away at Watford is a good point,” said McArthur as he reflected on a better second half after Roy Hodgson had left the side in no doubt at the break with their showing.
“He wasn’t really happy with our performance at half time so he let us know that and demanded a lot more and in the second half and we give him a lot more.”
Just past the hour mark Watford's Adrian Mariappa went into a challenge with Wilfried Zaha inside the box and the Palace camp were calling for a penalty but referee Chris Kavanagh thought otherwise and McArthur was not sure if the decision was correct but felt it was clear the winger was going to be the focus of attention for the home side.
“I am not sure as I haven’t seen the penalty back but Watford were targeting him as a lot of teams will do because he is our main threat.”
The side now go into the final three games and there is no doubt in the Eagles midfielder’s mind what the mentality and approach will be as the season draws to an exciting conclusion.
“Obviously now we look to try and win every single game and will go into the next one focussed and with momentum from another point and it keeps the run going.
“We need to keep fighting for every single point and we will do that in the next game."
