Following Crystal Palace's thoroughly well-deserved 2-0 victory over Burnley, second half goalscorer Andros Townsend reflected upon a strong team performance and moment of individual class.
He said, "It's always nice [to score]. We got the one in the first half and it was a bit edgy. In the second half, we missed a few chances. We've seen the script before where we've dominated and miss chances then they get one on the counter-attack, so to score and finish off the game, I'm happy. But obviously the three points are the main thing.
"I think we've created chances all season. Maybe we've been guilty of not putting the chances away, which was the story again today, but thankfully we got two to get us over the line, get us the three points. And hopefully now we've got confidence that we can build on and start putting away more of the chances we've been creating."
The victory was Palace's first at home this season, though Townsend suggested the side have performed well all the same.
"We've been strong most of this season. Even though results haven't gone our way and we're near the bottom of the table, performances have been very good and we knew if we kept that up today the result would come. And thankfully it did.
"We've got a difficult period now, we've got a lot of games in a short space of time and we have to keep going, keep the momentum and keep picking up points."
Defensively, Crystal Palace are now one of the strongest teams in the league's bottom 10. Despite having scored himself, Palace's 27-year-old winger was still keen to praise those behind him.
"The boys at the back have been fantastic and even the boys at the front. We defend from the front. I think we've done a good job; the whole 11. The players that came on today did well defensively and that clean sheet is for all 16 or 17 of us in the squad."
